Randy Newman, who is responsible for hits such as Short People, I Love L.A. And Mama Told Me Not To Come (which also gave the show his name), became famous in recent decades in his composition to the cinema. He has won two Academy Awards and seven Grammy Awards for his music for “Toy Story,” “Monsters Inc.,” “Cars,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Bug Life,” etc. His songs: “A Song by Randy Newman,” which Arik Einstein sings is Jonathan Geffen’s translation of Dayton Ohio 1903, and when Shlomi Shaban sang “My Life Is Good,” it is a translation of Newman’s “My Life is Good.”

Avner Kalmar, the initiator of the show and the musical producer, is a violinist and arranger who performs with leading artists in Israel. Kalmar became acquainted with Newman’s songs as a 9-year-old boy, when they were broadcast on “Pop Pop,” and fell in love with music. Over the years, he discovered that many musicians had gone through a similar track with Newman’s poems and works. The fact that Neumann was considered a “musician of musicians” made it easier for him to harness a long list of his friends, one of Israel’s leading musicians, for the show.
