Rainer Raczinski’s Polaroids show urban landscapes. By using the Instant Camera, unique pictures are produced, based on the human visual perception. Polaroid pictures can’t be changed by digital means.
The theme of the exhibition is the “International Style” architecture. The photographer travels between three different locations – Los Angeles, Tel Aviv and Frankfurt.
Frankfurt was an important site of the early modernism, whereas Los Angeles and Tel Aviv represent the later modernism. Many of the architects designing Tel Aviv and Los Angeles where of Jewish origin, trained either at the Bauhaus school itself or by teachers who taught at this institution.
The presented photographs allow the viewer to experience similarity and fundamental differences between the three cities. One can see how decorations and functional features communicate in the same language in spite of the distances between the countries and the continents.

סדרת תצלומי הפולרואיד של ריינר רצ’ינסקי מציגה נופים עירוניים. באמצעות מצלמה “מידית”, נוצרות תמונות ייחודיות, המתבססות על התפיסה החזותית האנושית. לא ניתן לערוך תמונות פולרואיד באמצעים דיגיטליים.
נושא התערוכה הוא אדריכלות “הסגנון הבינלאומי”. הצלם נודד בין שלושה מיקומים שונים – לוס אנג’לס, תל אביב ופרנקפורט.
פרנקפורט הייתה מרכז חשוב של המודרניזם המוקדם, בעוד שלוס אנג’לס ותל אביב מייצגות את המודרניזם המאוחר. רבים מן האדריכלים אשר תכננו את תל אביב ולוס אנג’לס הם ממוצא יהודי, והוכשרו בבית ספר הבאוהאוס עצמו או על ידי מורים שלימדו במוסד זה.
התמונות המוצגות מאפשרות לצופה לחוות קווי דמיון, ובו בזמן הבדלים מהותיים בין שלוש הערים. אפשר לראות כיצד תכונות אסתטיות ופונקציונליות מתקשרות בשפה זהה בערים אלו, למרות המרחקים בין המדינות והיבשות.
