Mike Shinoda, the lead singer and founder of Linkin Park, found himself heartbroken with millions of fans around the world with the suicide of band singer Chester Bennington. He did what every artist of this magnitude does to cope. He went into the studio and poured all the grief into a new, powerful and exciting album and went out with him to meet the fans on a tour filled with optimism, relief and longing. And of course, there is also the Israeli connection.

In 2017 the world of music was shocked and grieved with the suicide of Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park and Chris Cornell’s best friend who committed suicide the year before. The two close cases of the soloists who were a significant voice for an entire generation have been hard on not only close friends and family but also tens of thousands of fans around the world.

Linkin Park was known as a monster of powerful and emotional performances with intense performances, penetrating texts and a huge fan base with which it maintained a particularly close relationship. Her albums were sold in 55 million copies worldwide and was crowned the most beloved band on Facebook with more than 5.5 billion hits on YouTube, 2 Grammy Awards, 7 albums, 6 of them on top of the sales charts and countless awards and titles. The cross-sectional mix of rock, rap and electronic has made it one of the most popular and successful bands in the world. The intensity of the special voice and emotion expressed by Chester alongside Shinoda’s exact rap created a completely new genre that conquered the world. Linkin Park came to Israel in 2010 and met a loyal, warm and embracing audience that was waiting for her with excited anticipation and gave one of the unforgettable performances here in front of tens of thousands of fans in Hayarkon Park.

Shinoda is a songwriter, producer and graphic artist who is responsible for some of Linkin’s album covers. In 2005, he released a solo album under the name “Fort Minor”, which reached fourth place in the album charts for the same year. The album was already praised by Variety, Rolling Stone Magazine, The New York Times , NME and more.
Not just the name of his album is Post Trauma, it’s a healing process that Shinoda created from loss. The album is especially personal and is a movement towards recovery: from the over-angry song at its beginning to the optimistic ending in Watching As I Fall. Full of hope and relief, sadness and anger that is not only ready but must share with the fans who have been there all these years and miss as much as the closest.
