Zappa Tel Aviv - Raul Wallenberg 24, Tel Aviv,

The esteemed singer and actress Liraz Cherchi in a musical project of its kind that combines Iranian music from the 1960s and 1970s with bits and contemporary electronic music. As a native of Iranian origin, since her childhood, Shiraz has absorbed Persian culture through folk music, traditional cuisine and inherited language. It was in her visit to Los Angeles, in the streets of Iranian immigrants, that Liraz was exposed to new musical compositions of the opponents of the revolution, who were banned from listening to Iran in the days after the revolution.

The connection between bits and Iranian works in the musical project is linked to Liraz’s burning desire to combine the traditional story of her parents with her current story. Thus, the connection was made with Producer Reguiser in order to give the complex composition the unique sound of Los Angeles. For Liraz, these two extremes, the electronic sound and the traditional sounds, describe her personal family story and the story of Iran moving between revolutions.

In this performance, Liraz will host someone who understands her story best of all – the singer Rita, her aunt. Together, they create a warm, family-rich musical line that stretches between generations of immigration and musical activity in Israel, on an evening of Persian music, from today’s perspective.
