This solo exhibition was created by Mirkin out of longing for the beaches of Tel-Aviv. A part of the essence of this city, with its natural and human elements, and the iconic plastic chairs that have become a symbol in Israeli culture. A site-specific installation will use architectural elements of the gallery space, and transform it for one night into an abstraction of the Tel-Aviv beaches.
Layer No 5 is part of a continues body of work, composed of a series of installations, objects, combining repeating patterns, and examining the transformation of drawings into three dimensions. Similarly, to the layers of consciousness it is build and exposed gradually, focusing on a specific social phenomenon in each layer.
