Korean Night: Love-hate relationship between North and South Korea
After a year of forced pause we return to the tradition of lectures and international food, and this time: Korean Evening | Love-hate relationship between North and South Korea
South Korea’s attitude toward the North has changed over the years. From hostility to hatred and love. How do you treat an enemy who is near you and is threatening you with a nuclear weapon?
Until the 1980s, the South Korean government presented the North in South Korean culture as the terrible enemy. Since the 1990s, South Korean presidents have begun to change their policy toward the North, while at the same time changing South Korean cinema and drama has begun. In the lecture we will look at the change that has taken place in the attitude of the south to the north, and how this is manifested from a bitter and cruel enemy, to a beautiful and kind North Korean who can even fall in love with.
Dr. Alon Lewkowicz, an expert on Korean studies, has returned from a trip to North and South Korea to tell you all the most interesting things behind the headlines and perhaps even refute some of the rumors coming from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, where “truth” is the most important thing.
The evening will begin at 7:30 pm with a traditional Korean bowl of Bibimbap | Bibimbap, to be made by Korean chef Sony Kim [T-Kim]. One of the flagship dishes of Korean cuisine that is also very popular in the West. The dish consists of vegetables, kimchi, roast meat and a hot Korean chili sauce placed on a bed of rice! You can also opt for the vegan bibimbap option.
20:15 – Lecture combined with videos by Dr. Alon Lewkowicz, a Korean expert from Beit Berl College and Bar Ilan University. A parent danced with North Koreans and survived.

אחרי שנה של הפסקה כפוייה אנחנו חוזרים למסורת הרצאות ואוכל בינלאומי, והפעם: ערב קוריאני | יחסי אהבה-שנאה בין צפון לדרום קוריאה
יחסה של קוריאה הדרומית לצפון השתנה לאורך השנים. מיחסי עוינות ליחסי שנאה ואהבה. איך מתייחסים לאויב הנמצא בקרבתך ומאיים עליך בנשק גרעיני?
עד שנות ה-80′ של המאה העשרים, הממשל הדרום קוריאני הציג את הצפון בתרבות הדרום הקוריאנית כאויב הנורא. משנות ה-90′ החלו נשיאי דרום קוריאה לשנות את מדיניותם כלפי הצפון, במקביל החל גם שינוי בקולנוע ובדרמות הדרום קוריאניות. בהרצאה נביט בשינוי שחל ביחס של הדרום לצפון, ואיך זה בא לידי ביטוי מאויב מר ואכזר, לצפון קוריאני/ת יפה וחביב/ה שניתן אפילו להתאהב בו/ה.
ד”ר אלון לבקוביץ’, מומחה ללימודי קוריאה, חזר ממסע בקוריאה הצפונית והדרומית כדי לספר לכם את כל הדברים הכי מעניינים מאחורי הכותרות ואולי אפילו להפריך חלק מהשמועות שמגיעות מהרפובליקה הדמוקרטית העממית של קוריאה, שבה “האמת” היא הדבר הכי חשוב.
הערב יתחיל ב-19:30 עם קערה קוריאנית מסורתית של ביבימבאפ | Bibimbap, שתכין השפית הקוריאנית סוני קים [Kimchi-TLV]. אחת ממנות הדגל של המטבח הקוריאני שאהובה מאוד גם במערב. המנה מורכבת מירקות, קימצ’י, בשר צלוי ורוטב צ’ילי קוריאני לוהט שמונחים על מצע אורז! תוכלו גם לבחור באופציה של ביבימבאפ טבעוני.
20:15 – הרצאה בשילוב סרטונים של ד”ר אלון לבקוביץ’, מומחה לקוריאה ממכללת בית ברל ואוניברסיטת בר אילן. רקד הורה עם צפון קוריאנים ונשאר בחיים.
