Soul and hip hop legend Kelis arrives for the first time to perform at the Barby Club.
The American musician who is one of the few women in history to put 10 singles directly to the top of the charts in the UK, started her career at the age of 16 after leaving her parents’ home and started working with Pharrell Williams. Following the joint work, she was signed to the record giant Virgin Records and on her second album with the record company, she won the “Best New Artist” award at the Brit Awards and the best R&B artist in the world at the NME Awards.
The hit “Milkshake” earned Cleese her first Grammy nomination and became one of the greatest hits to come out in the first decade of the 21st century. With the phenomenal success she released an album that broke sales records and reached multi-platinum and gold status and over the course of her career she took part in musical collaborations that produced additional hits with Calvin Harris, Enrique Iglesias, and more.
Alongside all the artistic successes across 6 records and a juicy career, Kliss also made headlines following a media divorce with rapper Nas whom she accused of physically and mentally abusing while she was in the seventh month of pregnancy with their joint child.
