Joey DeFrancesco – In The Key Of The Universe (USA)
In this performance, De Francesco and his band will play the music from their 30th album as leader of De Francesco – In The Key Of The Universe, which was published shortly before, and praised by listeners and critics.
De Francesco began his career at the age of 17 as a “wonder boy” and has since evolved and captured the premiere of this special instrument. The combination of virtuosic technique, well-developed harmonic approach, and groove-filled playing and joy of life has made him one of the favorite jazz musicians.
De Francesco won the first international recognition as a car player alongside guitarist John McLaughlin in 1994. Since recording and performing he has played with countless great musicians – from Miles Davis (who followed his tour with trumpet as well) to Ray Charles, from Morrison to Jimmy Smith.
In the last 15 years, De Francesco has been selected 11 times as the best Hammond player in the annual referendum in the prestigious Downbeat magazine.
