System Aley is a unique band, home to ten artists and creators who have been working together for more than a decade. The creation of System Ali is the fruit of a charged and uncompromising encounter between identities, personal stories and sources of inspiration. The band’s songs are written and performed in six languages - Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, English, Yiddish and Amharic, the mother tongue of the writers and writers.
System Ali was born in the Ajami neighborhood of Jaffa in the struggle for housing rights in the city. Since then it has been carrying out intensive artistic-educational-political activity from within and for the communities from which it grows.
The band’s new album “Mahargan” (Carnival) is composed of texts, tunes and bitts that were written in constant performances in Israel and abroad, and includes an unusual selection of samples that the members of the ensemble have collected from records that have shaped their personalities. the junction between the Russian folk song, chansons of military bands, Fairuz and Egyptian poetry, biblical texts, hip-hop, jazz and gypsy music.
