Brazilian legend Gilberto Gil is returning to Israel on 4th July 2018 as part of his RaFavela40 European tour! He’ll be playing at the Amphi Park Raanana!

Gilberto Gil recorded his album “Refavela” right after his performance at Festac – in Lagos Nigeria – back in 1977. The record became one of his recognized classics as it brought up some of the many components that came to be signatures of his original work as an artist. The rhythms and themes uncovered during the African experience were immediately absorbed by the artist and used as foundations to create Refavela and following productions as 1978’s “Live in Montreux”, recorded during the Swiss festival.

Today, 40 years after releasing Refavela, Bem Gil takes it’s repertoire back to stage inviting friends and musical partners – that were as himself moved by this record – to recreate it’s whole artistic universe.

He aimed for a collaborative concert with many artists – including Gil – that would perform the album 10 tracks and some other songs that are strongly connected with that milieu as Two Naira Fifty Kobo, composed and recorded by Caetano Veloso in 1977 and Bob Marley’s Exodus, also celebrating 40 years in 2017.

A true success with the public and critics, the concert that started in September this year has already gone through many cities of Brazil and is now coming to Europe with an exclusive formation.

Band brings Bem Gil (vocals and guitar); Domenico Lancellotti (drums, percussion and MPC); Bruno di Lullo (bass); Thomas Harres (drums and percussion); Thiagô Queiroz (sax and flute); Mateus Aleluia Filho (trumpet and flugelhorn); Nara Gil and Ana Lomelino as back-up vocals for Gilberto Gil (vocals and guitar); Mayra Andrade (vocals), Chiara Civello (vocal and keyboards ) and Mestrinho (vocals and accordion)
