Learn about the acting industry in Israel from Oren Rehany, an veteran actor Israel and Los Angeles. The workshop is geared for non actors and actors alike who are native English speaking level, and will focus on how to find auditions and get hired in the English speaking industry in Israel.
The market for employment possibilities for English speaking actors and non alike in Israel has greatly increased in the last decade. Huge content companies such as Netflix and Amazon are producing and filming in Israel and hiring locals. Hi-tech and startup companies constantly seek native English speaker, from a wide array of countries and cultures for videos to market their products worldwide. The rapidly growing, and award winning Israeli cinema market is attracting foreign investors and co-productions. This is a great time to make your first steps in show biz, or sharpen your skills in acting in English. You foreign appearance, culture, language and expression is an advantage – you just need to know who to offer it to.
In the workshop you will receive tips on how to find English acting jobs in Israel and efficient ways of quickly memorizing audition copy with casting agents. We will focus on how to build an audition correctly. We will work on language and body techniques and the differences in expectations abroad and in Israel for delivering a professional text in English. We will work with analyzing and investigating the text and character work according to the Israeli viewpoint and within the foreign viewpoint. If your English is with a dialect, we will learn how to make your accent a friend rather than a foe We will learn how to build a home audition studio with minimal financial investment to achieve full independence with self taping auditions, without needing to learn by heart. Oren Rehany is an Israeli/American actor known for Slamdance winner “The Holy Land”, David Zucker’s “An American Carol” and the Oscar winning musical “West Bank Story”. Television credits include TNT’s “Leverage” and the Conan O’Brian Show. Recently played alongside Harvey Keitel in an American Indie shot in Israel, and playing a role in the Israeli spy parody summer blockbuster “Mossad!”
