Food Not Bombs is an international organization that began in the 1980s in the United states. The organization works to raise awareness of the huge quantity of edible food that is thrown away every day for the sake of profit in supermarkets, food chains and restaurants, and to bring attention to the fact that while people do not feel financial or social security, the government gives enormous budgets to the weapons industry, the continuation of the occupation, and a reality of unceasing combat and bloodshed. The social and financial discrepancies are only getting larger, yet 2.5 million tons of food are thrown away each year, and 63 billion shekels go to the “security” budget.

We feel that it does not make sense that at the same time that one out of every three children in Israel is hungry, that there is no public housing, that neighborhoods in the periphery are deprived and neglected, and that three million Palestinians live under military occupation and oppression – food, a basic human need, has become a consumer product and a privilege for the rich. Through distribution of food, we want to create a dialogue about the priorities of the capitalist and militarist society that we live in.

Why vegan food?
The facts show that the animal-based food industry is the most destructive and most wasteful industry on earth, as well as causing suffering to animals. We believe that it is possible to live in a way that is humanitarian, harmonious, and ecological.

Come eat tasty and ethical food with us, and create social and economical change together for a better world!

Join us to give out and eat free vegan food, talk with people about the occupation, food waste, veganism and ecology, warn of the dangers of capitalism and militarism, bring together a community, and start talking about building a different reality.
