Christian Malheiros in his debut film is going to crush your heart with unforgettable role. After his mother’s sudden death, Socrates, 15, must learn how to take care of himself. The city of Sao Paulo is not friendly to people living on the margins of society. Surely not blacks and homeless. Without a legal guardian and without any income to cover the rent for the apartment where he lived with his mother, Socrates must find odd jobs. At the construction site he meets a young man, which begins with violent hostility develops into an extraordinary love story, but the tough life in the streets of Sao Paulo have completely different plan for Socrates and when the financial pressures are strengthened he will have to confront the brutal reality. “Socrates” is an unusual film with a sensitivity that is reminiscent of realistic works such as FranΓ§ois Truffaut’s “The 400 Blows” and Ken Loach’s “Sweet Sixteen”.
