The Lycavettοs – Lycavetos ensemble performs traditional Greek music from the regions of Asia Minor, Anatolia and the Greek Islands. Music that connects Istanbul and Izmir’s coastline with Athens and the Macedonia Mountains. It is a unique Greek style originating from the musical tradition of the Ottoman Empire and developed in modern-day Greece by Greek-speaking immigrants from Anatolia (Western Turkey of our day).
Songs about the sea and the stars, fields, vineyards, mountains of love and valleys and the melodies and sounds have been passed down for generations and played on the streets, taverns and country houses.
