A year after the debut of the Tel Aviv Sled Out, which he first visited in a performance under the Babyfather project – Dean Blunt arrives for the premiere performance in Israel.

Dean Blunt is the experimental hip-hop project on the border of indie rock that has crept into a futuristic soul music shelf in a dubious record store. Blunt is a deceptive and prolific British musician who is on the line between a rapper or a rock star to train illusions, and is best known for his solo project and about half the duo Hype Williams, his band and avant-garde star Inge Copeland.

In 2014 the album “Black Metal” produced under his solo Priquet won many acclaim and became his most sold album. One can not help but mention his successful album, “The Savior,” a year ago, that the image of the hands clinging to the prayer on his cover was burned into the consciousness and became identified with Blunt.

In 2016 Babyfather’s album starred in every magazine in the top five albums of the year, and this is not the first time. In the past two years, five fascinating mixtapes have been released for the past two years, including collaborations with passionate, but not always easy to digest, artists like Arka, Gika and Mika Levi.

Every work coming from Mr. Blunt contains a fascinating balance between voice, aggressiveness and obscurity, mesmerizing, addictive and raises many questions that remain unanswered. Under this dark cloud there are motifs of Lo Fei’s rough productions, broken bits, rap with heavy accents and effects from the depths of the Dub world, such as a symbol of Johnny Clark – and that’s just a small chopchick at the tip of the iceberg. Along with the likes of Puff Daddie, Drake, Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey, Blunt does not hesitate to sample whatever comes to hand and ear.
It’s a cross-genre cross-genre wizard, from Alice Coltrane, Julie Cruz and Kate Bush to Pink Floyd, Nick Cave and The Magic Show.

On Thursday 20th September, Dean Blunt arrives for a solo performance to mark the Day of Judgment after Yom Kippur. This is a live performance by candlelight, as we inaugurate the new Barbi club sound system.

Online tickets in the discounted round will cost NIS 139, after which the price will increase to NIS 169
