πŸ“– What is BookLAB?
BookLAB is Tel Aviv’s first official English book club, but it’s also more than that. BookLAB is a gathering place for people who believe in learning and growing to become the best versions of themselves through the exchange of ideas and working together to achieve their goals. As such, BookLAB focuses on self- and professional-development books.

The initiative is run by Shira Sneg and is made possible with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Department for Immigration Absorption. Thank you, Olim in Tel Aviv Yafo!

BookLAB is for English-speaking professionals.

πŸ“– About Shira:
Shira is an Israeli-Canadian ktina chozeret and Tel Aviv-based professional passionate about creating spaces where people can come together, learn, and foster their own potential as individuals and as a community. She’s an Outreach Coordinator at Tel Aviv University International, where she matches English speaking candidates to skill-developing programs and degrees, and has presented at local to international conferences, including TEDx. Her previous experiences in launching social initiatives that have filled gaps in the community and improved services in Canada led her to create BookLAB in collaboration with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Department for Immigration Absorption, making it the city’s first official English speaking book club.

FAQs

πŸ“– How does BookLAB work?
BookLAB runs by cohorts. A cohort is made of up to 30 people and will cover a self/professional-development book together, meeting every other Wednesday evening to discuss the newest quarter of the book (total of 4 times if you math it out). The cohort will vote on the book before the first meeting.

Each meetup will be divided into 2 parts. Part I is a guided discussion on the reading, and Part II is a workshop.

πŸ“– Why the workshop component?
While being inspired and sharing thoughts is a key part of a book club, BookLAB is for those wanting to get ahead and better themselves through the thoughts and learnings in the book and meetups. The workshops will equip you with practical tools, provide you time for self-development, and may include group work, self work, and/or guest speakers.

πŸ“– How is BookLAB a community?
By the nature of this initiative, you’ll get to meet, share thoughts, and network with like-minded people while enhancing yourself and each other.

πŸ“– Who can join BookLAB?
BookLAB is made for (busy) professionals. The readings/books and meetups will be entirely in English.

πŸ“– When and where is the first cohort happening?
The first cohort will meet on Feb. 12, Feb. 26, Mar. 11, and Mar. 25 (Wednesdays) from 7:00-9:00PM in Floor 3 – Balfour 14, Tel Aviv.

πŸ“– How much does it cost?
Our pilot run is free thanks to the generous support the Tel Aviv-Yafo Department for Immigration Absorption.

πŸ“– Do I have to show up to all meetings?
While we totally get that life happens, we’d prefer to have participants sign up knowing that they can commit to all 4 meetups. The Launch Day, though, is a standalone event. If you’re interested in joining but know you can’t commit to the dates listed, there’s a box for you to check so we can follow up when the next cohort opens πŸ™‚
