In the wake of a photographic camera project performed by Alon Glazinger and Raz Ezra, the show “Refavela” was dedicated to the Brazilian singer Gilberto Gilles. Gilles, the founder of the Tropicatia stream in the late 1960s in Brazil, combines Brazilian music with black music from around the world.
Alon and Raz’s project, which began with an attempt to get tickets for Gilles’ planned show, drew enthusiastic responses, leading to a decision to stage the show. A special group of musicians and friends gathered around the project.
The show is named after one of Gilles’ masterpieces, which marks the beginning of his travels in African roots music. The show will play the songs recorded for the project, along with other surprises (Brazilian).
