It’s a weird week to be doing listings. Some people are not in the mood for doing anything, and while we all need a healthy dose of escapism, events seem to be getting cancelled all around us. The following events are still going on at the time of writing (Sunday evening), but things might change. I’ll update here if I hear of anything being cancelled, but don’t be surprised if things aren’t quite what you expect or you turn up and find the place shut.
I can’t think of a better way to escape reality than Sorcerers Night, Tel Aviv’s own night of English language magic and mentalism. It’s at 20:00 at Olei Zion 11, Jaffa (Flea market area). 100NIS will get you in and you can enjoy close up magic and a stage show. There’s also food served, for an extra price.
New Orleans Jazz, Swing & Charleston @ the Hoodna Bar from 22:00. Free. The perfect soundtrack to the impending apocalypse.
3421 taking over the Pasaz with their dubstep / electronic sounds and bringing a load of guests (Echo, Keren Dunn, lots more) for a full night of varied electronic sounds. 30NIS. From 22:00.
Discoriental – Avihu Pinhasov & The Angel sisters with live music and DJing of Greek, Balkan, Middle Eastern and other oriental sounds fused with the occasional electronic beat. Free, I believe.
Pits live at Levontin 7. From 22:30. 90s style alternative rock. 40NIS to get in. Hear the band speak and play music on the DIY Tel Aviv show, which will magically appear on the TLV1 website on Sunday evening.
1, 2 Many launching their debut album at the Pasaz from 22:00. Indie rock / blues, lots of fun.
Shaelet Nefotsa & The Orions play live at the Zimmer from 20:30 – local shoegaze and surf rock together at last. Cheap entry, cheap booze.
Again at the Zimmer, hardcore punk and political punk from Marmara Streisand and Mahleket Hanikot Shotrim. Expect a lot of angry sounds. 10NIS to get in.
Dreamy pop prettiness from Shelly & Rotem at Levontin 7 from 21:00.
