Shenkar’s 2017 show for the fifth edition of Gindi TLV Fashion Week revealed a promising future for Israeli fashion, thanks to its creative second and third year student designers. The theme showcased the versatility of black and white (with occasional flares of bright color for contrast). Garments were mostly gender-neutral and playfully experimented with shapes, patterns and textures within the limited color palette.
The avant-garde outfits were dressed down with sneakers on each model, which added a street style element to the show. The primarily monochromatic outfits were paired with berry hued lipstick for female models and casual, slightly “bedhead” hair.
Though the collection presented a wide range of styles, the signature edgy creativity of Tel Aviv was prominent throughout all of the student designers’ pieces. The prestigious design school, ranked as one of the ten best fashion schools in the world, received international praise for the show, including a feature in Vogue Italia’s coverage of Tel Aviv Fashion Week.
