Before you’ve even eaten at this place you’ll fall in love. Hidden away in the Shuk, this small bar pulls off the clean yet authentic ‘Shuk look’ with a gorgeous Moroccan tiled bar and wooden stools surrounding it. The vibrant music is blasting and the chefs/waiters couldn’t be more friendly.

The Shukshuka chefs know exactly what they are doing. Each shakshuka was flavoured with different spices meaning they were not over dominated by the tomato paste. Our favourite was “The Spanish Shakshuka” (37NIS) with kabanos, spinach, onion and chickpeas. If you are looking for something slightly lighter then we would go with “Roberto’s Italian Shakshuka” (39NIS) with goats cheese and basil.

We asked the chef to recommend his favourite salad to accompany the shakshuka and he told us to go with the Israeli salad, claiming it was the best. He was right. How can a simple chopped salad taste so good?! From the fresh vegetables, to the tangy lemon dressing and homemade tahini, the salad was simple but SO delicious. We asked for ours spicy and the green chilli pieces gave it the perfect added kick.

They serve daily specials such as chicken souvlaki, fried fish and vine leaves. For those not looking for shakshuka, Shukshuka offers something for everyone.

Before heading back to work we were (rather easily) convinced by the chef to have a shot or two, on the house, of their Arak Lemonade!

A new menu is coming soon and we can’t wait to return to try it. Click here for the current English menu.
