Everyone and their mother seems to have a blog these days. Literally. After a bit of consideration and encouragement from friends and family, I have decided to throw my hat into the “I have a blog” ring.
The impetus for my creating a blog actually came several months ago when I had my first Opinion piece published in the Jerusalem Post, Israel’s most-read English daily. In this piece I offered “tips” to Israel’s עולים חדשים (new immigrants) for building a solid, successful future in our tiny, crazy little country. The response to my surprise was quite overwhelming; in less than 24 hours, my article was the most viewed Opinion piece on Jpost.com (http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Op-Ed-Contributors/How-to-make-aliya-alone-successfully-319173).
This single article is just the tip of the iceberg of what I have to say about Israel and life here as a lone immigrant, as I moved to Israel alone leaving all of my family in the States some 6.5 years ago. Life in Israel is far from dull and with this blog I would like to paint a picture of what life is like here from the perspective of a lone immigrant. From politics to religion to work to relationships / love and funny stories in between, I would like to share my opinions, experiences, and crazily amazing journey that I have lived the past six-and-a-half years.
My hope is that this blog will not be just another blog, but a window into the realities of life in Israel. The truth is that Israel is much more than what you see on news channels. I am proud to call Israel home and am looking forward to sharing my life and thoughts with you.
