Co-working giant WeWork is set to launch a startup accelerator program in the northern Israeli city of Haifa as part of the company’s global accelerator program WeWork Labs, CTech by Calcalist reported this past week. This will be the second WeWork Labs program in Israel, following the launch of the first one in Tel Aviv in June.

The Haifa accelerator program will support 40 startups, including companies who are members of theDOCK, a Haifa-based maritime hub and accelerator. NoCamels profiled the hub this past summer.

Haifa is also home to offices of tech giants IBM and Intel, among others, as well as Israel’s prestigious Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.

“We believe in Haifa and think we can build a successful ecosystem here,” Roee Adler, a senior vice president at WeWork and the head of WeWork Labs, told CTech by Calcalist.

WeWork recently relaunched its Labs program, which promotes early-stage entrepreneurs through courses, mentorship, and collaborations with other startup incubators and accelerators.

The company said in February that it had 27 spaces for WeWork Labs secured in 16 markets worldwide for 2018.

WeWork opened its first shared office space in Haifa in August, the first in northern Israel. WeWork also operates five office spaces in Tel Aviv, one in Jerusalem, one in Herzliya, and one in Beersheba.
