The city of Tel Aviv was named among the Wall Street Journal’s ten “most intriguing travel destinations for 2019” in a new report published last week. Seattle, Kyoto, and Warsaw also made the cut with Salta, Argentina topping the list. Missouri, Namibia, the Maldives, and Tunisia were also included as top destinations by the prestigious business and politics journal.

The Tel Aviv portion focused on the cool hotel scene in Jaffa, “now a vibrant neighborhood” of the White City, which houses the Setai Tel Aviv, an old fortress turned luxury hotel, the Drisco, and the Jaffa, described by WSJ as “a 19th-century hospital that has been reimagined by British designer John Pawson into a stunning oasis of ancient stone and modern élan.”

These hotels were also described as “breathing new life” into the city by Travel+Leisure magazine earlier this year when it featured Tel Aviv-Jaffa among the winners of the World’s Best Awards, a yearly travel program run by the high-end, New York-based publication.
