The Tzamid Festival, dedicating to providing a platform for artists with special needs, will take place from June 19th – 24th in Jerusalem. Currently celebrating their 10th anniversary, the festival features theatre, dance, music, conferences, and an artist’s fair at venues throughout the city, including: the Jerusalem Theatre, the International Convention Center, Beit Shmuel, Beit Mazie, Cinema City, the Jerusalem Cinematheque, the First Station, the Khan Theatre, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, the Yellow Submarine, and the Botanic Garden and other Jerusalem locations.

Opening night will take place on June 19th at the Jerusalem Theater – a tribute to the Israeli pop-rock band Ethnix, with an appearance by the band.

Some festival highlights:

Bat-el Papura is a performer I’ve had the pleasure of seeing in Avi Nesher’s The Matchmaker (2010), and Sivan Gabrielovich Gal’s The Gaza Strip Show.  She will be presenting a one-person ‘documentary stand-up’ performance, based on her life and path as an actor. The performance will take place on Thursday, June 23rd at 17:00, in Pisgat Zeev, at 135 Moshe Dayan Blvd.

On June 21st there will be an art fair in Kikar Safra from 9:00 – 14:00.

The festival’s closing event will take place on June 23rd, at the First Station in Jerusalem, starting at 19:00. The Shekel Foundation with actors from the “Teatron Si’im.”

On Friday, June 24th, there will be a standup comedy show at Cinema City, with a twist: it will take place in complete darkness. The show starts at 13:30.
