Forget about ‘Next Year in Jerusalem’… we’re in Tel Aviv Baby! Here’s five of our favourite things going on during Rosh Hashanah in Tel Aviv…

1. Community Rosh Hashanah Dinners

Community Rosh Hashanah Dinners are an awesome way to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, eat some tasty food, and meet some cool new people. There are still a few places left for Sunday’s dinners at Chabad on the Coast Young Professional Dinner (160 NIS, free for lone soldiers) and White City Shabbat 126 Ben Yehuda (110 NIS). Or if you are starting adventurous, you can start your own one in the Group!

2. Music Festivals and Nature Parties

There are amazing Festivals going on all weekend. Starting today (Thursday 29/9) is the Wave Festival, a colourful 3-day festival on the beach, the Pashut Festival, a 3-day nudist festival in the desert, and the Old City Festival in Beer Sheva with loads of cool local musicians. On Saturday there are two awesome 1-day festivals: Boom Box Hadera with loads of amazing Israeli bands like Balkan Beat Box and Hadag Nachash; and the Manush Festival, a nature party just north of Herzliya with cool DJs. And on Sunday through to Tuesday is the Indigo Festival, a three-day psytrance nature party in the desert.

4. Olim Friendly Synagogues

Amongst the hundreds of little synagogues dotted around Tel Aviv, there are a few who make an extra-special effort to welcome Olim Chadashim – with English sermons and prayer books provided. Two of the biggest at the Tel Aviv International Synagogue on Frishman 23 and Ben Yehuda 126. For a full list check our Secret Tel Aviv’s Guide to Olim Friendly Synagogues in Israel.
