What is happening is not right anymore

This is a message to my dear friend and all the other liberal democratic Likud supporters. This has gone too far – what is happening is no longer simply “right” and “left”. It is not “right” to annex people without giving them the vote. It is not “right” to dismantle the political and judicial checks and balances for personal gain. It is not “right” to belittle people because of their sexual identity. It is not “right” to provoke people and risk the lives of soldiers and civilians for photo opportunities. It is not “right” to let other people define who is a Jew. This is not “right” anymore – this is extremism. It is time for you to stand up for what YOU believe is right. I’ll see you at Habima on Saturday – I’ll be waving an Israeli flag.

AMAZING CONCERTS 🎸

Balkan Beat Box, Ivri Lider, Ravid Plotnik, Revivo Project and more

There are some crazy concerts happening this week, starting tonight with a super-fun show from Balkan Beat Box at the Barby (pic above). For something more chilled tonight head over to Haezor for Jamaican reggae singer Errol Dunkley and the Young Israelites. On Saturday night there are three big concerts: Israeli pop-star Ivri Lider performs at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium, Israeli rapper Ravid Plotnik (Nechi Nech) has a huge show at the Menorah Arena, and American heavy-metal band Dream Theater take over Hangar 11. Also this week don’t miss Bzaat on Sunday @ Kuli, the Revivo Project @ Reading 3 on Tuesday, and a Tenacious D Tribute Show @ Gagarin next Wednesday. More concerts on the Secret Tel Aviv website.

Pick up some cool tees at T:Market Winter @ Abraham Hostel

It’s another great weekend for pop-up markets and clothes exchanges! Tonight Vintage Me Up returns to Hotel Bobo – 25 stands of clothes, accessories, and everything vintage (until Saturday). Tomorrow check out loads of amazing local designers at T:Market at Abraham Hostel (until Saturday); Dressed by Danielle has an open-house at Ben Yehuda 64; and there’s a clothes exchange at Garden in the Kerem. Dying Lake comic store host a vegan ice-cream party tomorrow

If you haven’t checked out the Dying Lake book store – you have to! Located on Levontin 2, they sell comics, graphic novels, fanzines and other visual delights. They also host awesome events, and this weekend is no exception – tonight get inspired by local comic book designer Noa Katz talking about her creative process, and tomorrow afternoon they have a tasty vegan ice-cream party! Also tomorrow afternoon there are cool parties at the Schnitt Brewing Company (happy 1st birthday) and a funkalicious party at HaMashbir. Check the Secret Tel Aviv website for more parties.

Grab your partner for some Forro music at Gugy’s on Saturday night

Gugys Public House (on Rambam not Rothschild) hosts DJ Felipe Castro for a super-fun Brazilian party on Saturday night. Forro, pronounced Fo-ho, is the traditional music of North East Brazil, and it’s great to dance to! More details and more parties on the Secret Tel Aviv website.

10×10 CHARITY PARTY 😍

Next Wednesday: Cocktails, networking and charity shark tank

10×10 is a global movement which helps raise funds for local charities. Next Wednesday they host their Tel Aviv launch event at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange to raise money for three amazing charities – Pesia’s Kitchen, KIEDF and Ohel Sarah. Tickets cost 180 NIS, all of which is donated to the local charities who compete in a shark tank style format for you to decide where your money goes. Starting with a tribute to Haruki Murakami tonight at Beit Ariela

Meet new people and get inspired this week with loads of amazing meetups. Tonight Beit Ariela and the Embassy of Japan host a tribute to famous Japanese writer Haruki Murakami (in Hebrew), Israeli poet and author Danielle Weil launches her latest book at the Little Prince (in Hebrew), and there’s an English standup evening at Hoodna Bar with TLV Laughs. Tomorrow there are two Friday night community dinners with Kerem House and Shevet. On Saturday move your body with dance improv at Suzanne Dellal, and on Sunday Shenkar art school hosts a conference honouring the work of Israeli artist Larry Abramson (Hebrew). We’ve added loads of hi-tech events to the Secret Tel Aviv Calendar

Mark your calendars – there are some really big hi-tech conferences coming up, and also some really interesting smaller meetups. Our favourite tech conference DLD Tel Aviv returns on February 1st; on February 14th Axis Innovation’s flagship conference celebrates its 10th year at the Peres Center for Peace in Tel Aviv; and on February 15th OurCrowd host their legendary Global Investor Summit in Jerusalem. New reels for 7 Eleven, Cafe Xoho, and Mochikva

We’ve had loads of fun this week with on Instagram and TikTok. We got a sneak preview of the new 7 Eleven yesterday and our TikTok video has already had over 130k views! We also got to eat delicious food at our favourite Cafe Xoho and bubble-tea hangout Mochikva (Cafe Xoho are looking for people to join their team, apply here).
