One of my favourite things about Tel Aviv is the huge number of hi-tech meetups. These are a great way to learn top tips from leading hi-tech professionals from Israel and abroad, and do some networking – I got my first job in Israel from networking at a meetup. Here are a few of my favourite English-language meetups

Startup Grind Tel Aviv

Startup Grind

Startup Grind Tel Aviv is part of the global Startup Grind Community, a global entrepreneurship community inspiring, educating, and connecting in 98 countries, 200 cities, and 1 million entrepreneurs. The Tel Aviv chapter is run by Shahar Matorin and meets up every 1-2 months to hear inspiring talks from some of Israel’s top hi-tech professionals. Recent talks have included Adi Sofer Teeni (Facebook Israel CEO) and Chemi Peres (Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Pitango VC). There is a small fee to attend these events, get a special discount with Secret Tel Aviv!

Campus Tel Aviv

Campus Tel Aviv is Google’s space for Entrepreneurs. Our community of Entrepreneurs are shaping the future with forward thinking events and programming. All events at Campus are free and open to the public, on a wide range of topics in tech and entrepreneurship space. Lectures are held in both English and Hebrew. DLD Tel Aviv Innovation Festival

DLD is Israel’s largest hi-tech conference, happening once a year usually around September time. Thousands of hi-tech professionals, entrepreneurs, and investors from Israel and abroad gather for the prestigious international festival and conference dealing with innovation, digital media, science and culture. The conference aims to lay the groundwork for future innovations and technological developments, offering professionals and senior executives in the global hi-tech industry a platform for exchanging ideas and networking.


Rise

Rise is a physical and digital community that provides start-ups and businesses the opportunity to connect, co-create and scale in order to form the future of financial services. Based out of the Rise coworking Space on Ahad Haam, Rise hosts meetups nearly every night, focused on FinTech, Cyber Security, and the Blockchain industry. Recent events include the ‘FinTech Shark Tank’, and ‘What does Brexit Mean for your FinTech Company’. It is free to attend these events, but registration is required.

Women in Digital Israel

Women in Digital is a professional networking group dedicated to encouraging and supporting Women in their digital careers through networking, mentoring and employment opportunities. They host meetups every month, which are either free or a small fee of 25 NIS. Recent talks have included ‘The Secrets of Email Marketing’ and ‘Keep it Simple: How to Market Complex Products’. They also offer mentoring programs, the most recent had mentors from IBM, TEVA, SAP, Oracle, SimilarWeb and Fiverr.


The Pub Hub

Tel Aviv’s coolest coworking space by day, and inspiring meetups for freelancers at night. The Pub Hub is the brainchild of Daniel Rubin and Doron Mamam, who love helping their community succeed. One of the ways they try and help is by hosting free meetups for freelancers every few weeks, with the goal of educating, networking, and having fun. Past events include ‘TED Secrets of Public Speaking’ and ‘Productivity Practices’. Watch out for their February program!


Wine Wednesday

So this is not strictly a high-tech meetup, but a lot of the regulars work in hi-tech, and the event is often at a hi-tech venue, for example TechCode and TASE. Wine Wednesday typically meets up once a month, and is a great excuse to drink wine with friends (both old and soon-to-be) while raising money and awareness for important grassroots projects in Israel.


Tel Avir

Tel Avir is an English-Speaking networking group for young professionals interested in the Environment. The majority of the people are olim chadashim and students in their 20’s and 30’s. Some people started working in one business sphere and made a mid-career shift into the environmental realm. Tel Avir hosts monthly lectures, each focusing on a different theme. Our lectures give members an outlet to expand their knowledge on the ever-evolving environmental field.
