Defined as a border-breaking musician and percussionist, Ben is known for his unique and original rhythmic-musical approach. Ben is mostly famous for his “Neu-African Drumming” style, explosive-burning rhythms and cutting edge hybrid drumming techniques. Inspired by the deep Senegalese tradition and modern drummers such as Terry Bozzio and Efrain Toro, Ben’s harmonic drumming gives the listener a trancing experience wrapped in a multi-layered feeling.

Ben’s solo act – ‘One Man Tribe’ is based on a custom made West-African drum set made of traditional drums from Guinea Conakry, Senegal and Mali. With this drum set Ben presents his own arrangements of traditional rhythms, compositions and songs from West Africa. Ben developed a unique style and innovative technique that allows him to play 10 different drums and percussion instruments simultaneously creating the massive sound of an entire tribe of drummers.

As a part of his research, Ben traveled many times to West Africa and studied with African master drummers: Doudou N’diaye Rose, Aly N’diaye Rose and Saboula Bangoura. Following his unique solo project, Ben was interviewed and featured in a documentary film made about master drummer Doudou Ndiaye Rose in Senegal, showing his new modern approach based on the ancient drumming tradition and receiving Doudou Ndiaye Rose’s recognition and appreciation.

Ben Performed and recorded with world-known musicians such as: Doudou Ndiaye Rose, Bombino, Yossi Fine, Shye Ben-Tzur, Didier Awadi, Omar Pene, Khaira Arby, Amy Sacko, Riff Cohen, Danilo Brito, Yamandu Costa, Balla Kouyate, Alon Olearchik, Anat Cohen and many more.

Co-leading two projects:  ‘Yossi Fine & Ben Aylon’ and ‘Gulaza’, Ben had toured and performed in prestigious festivals and venues all around the world: USA, Canada, Austria, China, South Korea, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, Israel, Faroe Islands, Senegal, Spain, Gibraltar and more.

Nowadays Ben is working on a new solo project, presenting his skills as a composer/producer and a Djeli-Ngoni (African Lute) player. In this project Ben collaborates with West-African leading female singers Khaira Arby and Amy Sacko to name a few. This project’s debut album will be released in 2019.
