Independence Hall is under renovations and is closed for visits until 2024.
The hall was originally the home of Meir Dizengoff, the first mayor of Tel Aviv. The declaration ceremony took place in the main hall, where prominent leaders and members of the Jewish community gathered to announce the establishment of the modern State of Israel. David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency at the time, read the declaration and officially declared the formation of the state.
Independence Hall is a symbol of national pride and a reminder of Israel’s journey to independence.
