Moonshine

An evening at Moonshine is like an evening in New York. This speakeasy concept bar is hidden inside the buzzy Night Kitchen restaurant. An inconspicuous black door leads you from the restaurant into an underground, candlelit, retro cocktail bar. During the alcohol prohibition, bars had to be hidden and secret. Once inside a bar, people had to speak with lowered voices in order to avoid being caught; and thus the concept of a “speakeasy” bar was born. They also had to make their own alcohol which became known as “moonshine”. This tiny bar has adopted these two elements of 1920s America to create a truly unique experience. They infuse fruits and spices into the alcohol in house, and use these to mix the cocktails. The playlist is made up of jazz and blues, and the menu is full of American classics such as corn dogs (27NIS), sloppy joes (34NIS) and S’mores (22NIS). Everything we tasted was very good, great bar snacks to accompany the drinks. If you want something less heavy to snack on we recommend ordering the cracker jacks. Now, onto the most important part: the cocktails. We tasted the Tennessee B, Speedy Gonzales, Woodstock and our personal favourite the Uncle Sam (45NIS) which is homemade kiwi moonshine, midouri, vodka, mint, and sour mix. Seeing as the room is very small, you must make a reservation and tables can comfortably accommodate groups of 5 or less.
