Beit Kandinof - Hatzofim 14, Tel Aviv,

Frenemy is a freelance illustrator and street artist from Austin, Texas currently based in Tel Aviv. His work is highly influenced by the children’s books and cartoons he loved as a child. He also pulls influence from comic books, 90’s skate/surf design, and Lowbrow art. Frenemy is a self-taught artist who learned all he knows about art from 18 years of painting on the streets. His colorful, weird, funky characters can be found on the streets of Tel Aviv where he has lived for the past year and a half.

A Place to Escape comes in many forms. It could be anything from reading a book, staring at our phones, or getting lost in art. We all have different ways we chase this need for escape. From a young age Frenemy used art and imagination as his escape from harsh realities at home. He is continuously pushing the limits of his imagination and art as an escape this is something he never let go of. In a new collection of paintings and illustrations, Frenemy will display a range of work covering a variety of topics. His titles are an integral part of the illustrations and add witty narratives to the artworks. The work ranges from humorous illustrations meant to make the viewer smile and laugh, to more serious works that reflect a range of experiences. Frenemy seeks to build a universe that is all his own and invites the viewer to take a look inside and hopefully escape for a moment from the realities of the real world around us.

The opening will also see the release of a limited edition Frenemy T-shirt design and “Cosmic Safari issue #1 The Bionic Ghost” a risograph print comic book zi
