A cooking class is a great option if you are looking to learn new skills, have a unique first date, or have an awesome yom kef! There are loads of awesome cooking studios in Tel Aviv, from home cooking studios and classes, to more professional courses in cooking schools and culinary equipment shops. Classes typically cost between 180-300 NIS per person, which includes eating the food afterwards, and in some cases lots of wine.

The best way to bring Israeli food home with you is to learn some of the tricks of the trade from Delicious Israel guides and chefs. We begin at the Carmel Market amidst the spice sacks and fresh fruit stalls, learning about the key fresh and dried ingredients critical for Israeli cooking. After enjoying the sights and scents (and a few tastings!), we will return to our home kitchen studio (~12-15 minute walk) and prepare a meal to remember with a menu based on Israeli cuisine’s diverse ethnic influences. If you are looking for something really special, check out Phyllis’ workshops – she typically runs 1-2 a month in the intimate setting of her home in Tel Aviv. Phyllis runs two classes – vegan cooking and gluten-free cooking – followed by a delicious feast. The workshops are in Hebrew, but Phyllis is American-born so can easily switch between the two languages. Read more.

Israeli cooking classes are ideal for tourists visiting Israel and looking to learn more about classic recipes like pita, hummus, shakshuka and falafel. This fun kosher cooking studio is great for beginners, corporate events or if you are just looking for a fun activity! They have many different workshops available, including Asian, Italian, Mexican, sushi, health food, and lots more. We tried the Indian Cooking course and it was great! Each workshop lasts for 3 hours of learning about the cuisine and ingredients you are going to use, prepping and cooking, followed by the best part… eating! Read more.

Part of the Dan Hotels Chain, Dan Gourmet offers both one-off classes and more specialized courses. There have a wide variety of classes to choose from (Asian, Italian, Pastries, Who’s Afraid of Fish?), mostly done in the evenings in Hebrew. Foodsteps is a kosher cooking school based in Tel Aviv that offers an exciting culinary experience based on a variety of cuisines from around the world. You can either sign up to one of their existing classes (in Hebrew, there are a maximum of 16 people per class meaning you get a lot of attention), or if you are in a group you can order a special class (in English or Hebrew). So we know this isn’t really cooking – but nothing goes better with a good meal than a delicious cocktail! Israel’s top bartending school, Zman Amiti offers both basic 2-hour classes, and more advanced 6 week masterclasses. For the basic classes, they have 2 classes a month for anyone to join (in Hebrew), or you can schedule a group class of at least 10 people – perfect for a yom kef (in English and Hebrew). Bulthaup Culinary Academy

Located in the Namal, luxury German kitchen manufacturer Bulthaup have built a beautiful professional working kitchen next to their showroom to teach customers how to get the most out of their equipment. The kitchen fits about 20 lucky people for 3 hours of fun, using only the best ingredients, most of which has been freshly sourced from the Tel Aviv Port Food Market next door. There are several workshops available, including Sushi Art, French Chocolate Dessert, and Thai food. Read more.

One of Israel’s largest kitchen equipment chains, with shops all around Israel, also hosts cooking classes in most of its locations – the more you cook, the more equipment you’ll need! In Tel Aviv their classes are held at the Carlebach branch, and there’s a wide range to choose from – including French cuisine, Thai, Italian, street food and lots more. All classes are in Hebrew.
