One of the first hostels in Israel, the ecclesiastical institution known as the ‘Austrian Hospice of the Holy Family’ is a pilgrims’ guest-house belonging to the Austrian Catholic Church in the Holy Land. Established in 1854, it started its activities in 1863. Emperor Franz Joseph stayed at the Hospice in November 1869.

The interior design ensures modern standards while retaining the 19th century ambience, and as the Austrian Hospice Jerusalem mostly hosts Austrians you can enjoy Austrian cuisine like: goulash soup, schnitzel, apple straut and sachertorte.

Most of the guests staying at The Austrian Hospice are coming from Austria, or from other German speaking countries, so if you are speaking German this could be the very best hotel for you in Jerusalem. If you are not Austrian but want to enjoy this unique combination of an Austrian experience in Jerusalem, Israel, you are more than welcome.
