Zakaim

As is the case for all meat lovers, it’s hard for us to find a vegan restaurant that we walk out of truly satisfied and smiling. Zakaim is a whole other story. The restaurant was established by three persian brothers, one of whom is the head chef. They wanted to create a restaurant which would appeal to the non-vegan crowd. They definitely succeeded. The creative combinations of flavours in the dishes are spectacular (try the avocado and sweet potato sashimi), and the fact that every single thing is cooked only once ordered gives it that fresh final touch. You’ll notice persian touches throughout, due to the special spices and persian sweet lemon.

In terms of the interior they have created an ecological space where everything in the restaurant is secondhand, from the dishes to the furniture. There are random objects scattered wherever you look, our favourite was the mattress stapled to the ceiling! These details add such character to the place and we will be VEGGING out at Zakaim a lot more often! We wouldn’t think twice about where to recommend for a vegan.
